Who made the Harry Potter Audiobook CDs?
In late 1999, Delphi Audio released a series of Harry Potter audiobooks on CD. The early releases were narrated by the then-new talent R. Lee Ermey, while later reissues featured different narrators (including Robbie Coltrane and Jim Broadbent).
The Harry Potter Collector’s Edition Audiobook CDs Unveiled was an online exhibition showcasing these rare and beautifully packaged audiobooks. Curated by AudioCollectorsOnline.com editor James Patrick Kelly, the exhibit allowed participants to explore photos, scans of posters and advertisements, as well as rare correspondence between Delphi and J.K. Rowling about the production of the CD versions of the novels.
What is a Collector’s Edition?
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll want to pick up an audiobook version. And if you’re fortunate enough to have a Collector’s Edition of any given book or movie, it might include an audiobook CD. Warner Bros. has released a few Collector’s Edition CDs for the Harry Potter series, and we’ve got all of them right here!
The first Collector’s Edition CD for the Harry Potter series was packaged with the theatrical release of Order of the Phoenix. It included three audiobooks: unabridged, full-cast versions of the novel, plus an exclusive bonus track featuring dialogue from omitted scenes from the movie adaptation.

This time, it included two audiobooks: unabridged, full-cast versions of Deathly Hallows novels and an exclusive bonus track featuring new music composed by Howard Shore specifically for this final book.
Why are the Harry Potter Audiobook CDs Unveiled?
When the Harry Potter audiobook CDs were first leaked, many collectors were disappointed because they wanted to own a physical CD copy rather than listen to it on their iPod. The collector’s edition, released in September 2011, includes an audio disc, a booklet with artwork and scans of the original manuscript pages, and a special collectable box. The art reveals scenes from the entire series that were not included in the films.
The audio discs have been digitally remastered and include 13 hours of music, plus bonus features such as commentary by actors Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes. Fans who buy the collector’s edition can also purchase an exclusive expansion pack which includes a new essay about J.K. Rowling’s creative process for writing Harry Potter and eight deleted scenes from Deathly Hallows Part 2.
What are the Songs on the Harry Potter Audiobook CDs?
To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Harry Potter series, Warner Brothers Records released a Collector’s Edition audiobook set on CD. The box set includes five CDs and a 108-page hardcover book with exclusive photos and artwork not included in the audio-quality version of the books.
There are 21 specially recorded songs from the seven Harry Potter movies that can be listened to as background music while reading. The tracks range from fan favourite classics like “The Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Let Us Fly Together” to first-time appearances by familiar characters and never before heard songs such as “Expecto Patronum” performed by Cho Chang and “The Lackey’s Lament” by Moaning Myrtle.

Who is Listening to the Harry Potter Audiobook CDs?
As the seventh and final Harry Potter book comes to a close, fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting the release of the audiobook CDs. The collector’s edition of the audiobooks was unveiled on October 12th and included seven discs with both versions of the book read by various actors.
The first disc contains nine hour-long recordings of all eight books, with David Bradley reading part one and Emma Sachini reading part two. Parts three through seven contain six recordings each, with Evanna Lynch reading part three, Michael Gambon reading part four, Bonnie Wright reading part five, Jim Broadbent reading part six, Robbie Coltrane reading part seven, and acted by Daniel Radcliffe for parts eight and nine.
Fans who purchase this set will also receive a replica of Hagrid’s First Book of Spells, which is not included in any other version of the audiobooks.
